If the body is like a well-oiled machine, the oral cavity is an excessively fine gear with lots of teeth. Each of your teeth plays a part in helping you eat food in the most straightforward, effective ways, and that’s truly incredible. There are four forms of pearly whites: incisors, canines, premolars and molars.
-Incisors. Incisors are the flat, sharp pearly whites in the front of your oral cavity, both on the bottom and top jaw. These pearly whites cut through food and support you to shovel food into the mouth. Adults usually have 8 total incisors.
-Canines. Canine chompers are the sharp, fang-like teeth at the front of your mouth. They support you to tear through chewy foods such as meat, and they have long roots. Adults have 4 canine pearly whites.
-Premolars. Premolars are large, thick pearly whites placed just behind the canine teeth. These teeth assist you in crushing food on their flat surface. Adults usually have 8 total premolars.
-Molars. And though they sit toward the back of your oral cavity, don’t forget about molars, the big pearly whites which grind food into safely-swallowable pieces. Adults typically have 12 molars, more than any other type of tooth.
There are a couple of other types of chompers, but they are very uncommon. Are you keeping your teeth in awesome shape?
